Hot Pink Lady
Yesterday, I was watching a TV docu on the best cocktail bars in NYC, which reminded me on my intention to drink one of my favourite cocktails again: The Pink Lady.
I reckon that some of you are laughing now, but yes it’s true, this fantastic pink drink is one of my favourite cocktails. This is due to the fact that I actually prefer beer or wine over cocktails, but the Pink Lady is somehow ok since it’s fairly smooth compared to other, stronger cocktails.
So, for those of you, who like a good Pink Lady cocktail as well, but never really knew how to mix one themselves or for others, who don’t know the drink yet but would like to try it out - here is the recipe for this fancy pink cocktail - found on cocktails.about.com:
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 3/4 oz applejack
- 1/4 oz lemon juice
- 1-2 dashes grenadine
- 1 egg white
- maraschino cherry for garnish
Preparation:
- Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- Shake it
- Strain intothe cocktail glas
- Decorate it with the maraschino cherry
- Finished
- Enjoy!
Last time I enjoyed a Pink Lady was during my holidays in Thailand last year. Back then, when I ordered the drink, the barkeeper almost died laughing at my order. He then went over to his colleagues to whisper something to them and suddenly all of’em started to giggle. Since then, I’ve always thought that they’ve taken me for a guy, who is playing for the other team, until now when I’ve found out on Wikipedia that Pink Lady is bloody famous for being a feminin drink. 
Bloddy oath! Now I know better next time.
